Who Am I?

NOBODY IMPORTANT

“You know that in nine hundred years of time and space and I’ve never met anybody who wasn’t important before.” – The Doctor

I don’t know if I am important. I’m important to a select few people close to me, but important in a global sense? Naw.  Have I discovered anything worthwhile, invented something miraculous, changed the world? Nope. But sometimes I have yhings to share, so…

Hi! My name is Emerald Peterson, and writing about yourself is hard, so I’ll try to keep this brief, like my desired amount of social interaction with strangers.

INFJ, The Highlights:

According to the Myers-Briggs personality test, I am an INFJ type personality:
  • Strong willed, strong opinions.
  • Creativity, imagination, conviction, sensitivity, and balance.
  • Seeks meaning and connection in ideas, relationships, and material possessions
  • Insightful, conscientious, and committed o firm values.
  • Tireless in fighting for beliefs such as the idea that nothing would help the world so much as using love and compassion to soften the hearts of tyrants.

An INFJ personality type is extremely rare – the most rare of the 16 personality types. This personality type has also been called “The Diplomat,” “The Advocate,” “The Counselor,” “Idealist,” “The Protector,” “The Mystic,” “Empath,” and a buuuuunch of other silly titles. But it was pretty cool to learn that Aragorn (Lord of the Rings), Aramis (The Three Musketeers), and Jon Snow (Game of Thrones) are among my few fellow INFJs. Apparently, this is a category that makes up less than 1% of the population. Cool – I’m special!  The rarest of all the gems in the land!

In addition to being super duper rare and precious and special, I have also published two children’s books! I also have a degree in history with a minor in psychology, a graduate certificate in children’s literature, and I am currently in the process of completing my certificate in Storytelling and Content Strategy at the University of Washington.

I like big books, and I cannot lie.

I am a writer with a lot of personal experience with anxiety, insomnia, and especially depression.  I like to help people, so this blog is a safe place to share my experiences, insights, and advice, as well as other random silly thoughts and observations.  I want to provide resources to those who feel like they have none and help other people who have suffered or are suffering to learn that they are not alone. Maybe some of what has helped me in my struggles with anxiety, insomnia, and depression will help you, your friend, your family member, a random stranger.  It’s worth a try.  Even if something isn’t directly applicable to your specific situation, gentle reader, I hope that it will, in some small way, help spread awareness of the severity and prominence of mental illnesses and remove some of the stigma.

Have I discovered anything/place worthwhile, invented something miraculous, changed the world?
